To start, this quarter we have an amazing group of students here who are so hungry for the LORD. They are already mature in their faith & ready to take the good news to the nations. During the first couple of weeks, I had the privilege of watching most of them get baptized on the beach next to the base. They were already born-again believers, but they wanted to take this step of faith to show their joy & commitment to living with Jesus. There was such a spirit of celebration on the whole beach. One of the students even evangelized to a man on the beach & he was saved & baptized as well.
Another sweet time that happens is something called early mornings. A couple opens their home at 5 am every Tuesday & Friday for students & staff to have personal quiet times. It is such an intentional time to pray, journal, & be in the Word. By myself, I wouldn't have the discipline to do that. But because it is with a community, it becomes something that fills & energizes me. Living well in a community is something that is impacting my life so much. Getting to intentionally walk with people every day from different cultures, walks of life, & convictions is marking me. This is what the body of Christ is for. Not just to come together on Sundays or in small groups but to do life together. Supporting each other in our daily struggles is what will grow us closer together & closer to Him. This is Kingdom living.
One of the joys of community is new life. My mentor & dear friend is pregnant & I have the joy of being a tia (aunt) to a little girl coming soon. I had the privilege of helping plan a baby shower for her that was Heidi-themed. I absolutely adore babies so I am so grateful to be in a community with lots of little ones.
To update you all on my role, I am still working in the operations department with Cuidado de la Casa. I get to improve our base daily and help with planning all the events that we have. Coming up, we have one of our biggest ministry times in Mazatlan, Mexico; Carnaval!! During the time when the city is planning to party, get drunk, & basically worship the devil, we are preparing teams to go into these dark places & share the light of Jesus. This year local churches are also joining us to bring worship, prayer, & evangelism into this city. Please be praying for safety over all of us but, more than that, pray that we will be bold to see the Kingdom of Heaven on earth! Thank you so very much for everything!!
Prayer Points:
- Boldness & safety in Carnaval
- Energy to push through long nights & busy days
- Sweet times with family that are coming to visit
- More of the Holy Spirit in everything I do
